During this pandemic, people are restricted from leaving their homes. There are many people trying to stay productive even from home. One of them is by doing handicraft activities. Lots of examples of handicrafts that can be done, but in this article we discuss the focus on macrame. There are many tutorials how to make macrame crafts. Even on YouTube itself there are many scattered from easy to difficult levels. In this article, the difficulty level for making macrame feather is an easy category and is suitable for beginners who want to learn macrame.

Before starting, you will need to provide the following:
  • Swivel Claps
  • 4mm Cotton Macrame Cord with details 1 piece of size 30 cm and 18 pieces of size 20 cm (I bought a local rope and it is very rough and dry)
  • Tape (Holds Svivel Clasps when stringing the claps eyelets)
  • Comb
  • Scissors

To begin, you need to attach a 30 cm rope into the clasp hole in the shape of larkshead knots.

Clip the clasp which has been attached by the rope to the retaining board using tape so that the position of the rope does not shift when stringing together another rope.

Fold 20 cm rope in half  below the 30 cm rope attached to claps photo

Take another 20 cm rope and fold it in half as well and place it on top of the 30 cm rope. Insert each end of the rope into the loop rope on both sides (right and left)

Pull the ends of the rope straightly on both sides so that they form a cross.

Repeat this step until the last rope. The next step, trim the string and comb each tied rope so that the string resembles a feather.

In the final step, the feather is still in a mess. To tidy up, cut each side so that it resembles a leaf shape.

If the steps are still confusing, you can check the following video link for detailed step-by-step details.
